The Schizophrenia Society of Alberta is a non-profit society dedicated to supporting the approximate 42,000 Albertans living with schizophrenia and their families and caregivers. WE offer support and education programs through our 6 branches and our online programs. We provide Community Education presentations to high schools, colleges and universities, first responders, community agencies and others wishing to learn more about schizophrenia. Our powerful Starry night play is offered to corporate events and conferences around the province, reaching out to larger audiences. The goal of our Community Education Presentations and Starry Night Performances is to provide education to foster better understanding of schizophrenia and reduce the stigma in our communities. 96% of those living with schizophrenia report experiencing stigma and discrimination due to their illness in finding employment, housing and in other areas of daily living.
