Wendy Passmore –Godfrey, BFA , shares her passion and experience in the art of puppetry, through innovative and explorative projects to enhance the artistic, educational and life experiences of young people. She founded WP Puppet Theatre Society (WPTS) in 1991, and continues as Artistic/Managing Director and principal performer. Wendy has written, designed, built and performed over twenty original productions that have been seen by thousands of children and families in Canada and overseas; the current production is entitled “Pigs in a Canoe – a collection of watery stories”. She has completed numerous commissioned puppets and puppet productions for both arts groups and not for profit organizations, and guest directed puppet shows. In 2016-17 WPTS involved 8,423 children and adults, in 236 events, which included 443 hours of learning experiences. Additionally she chairs the production of Puppet Power – a series of unique international conferences exploring the power of puppetry beyond performance. Past conference themes include: Puppets as Agents of Social Change, Embracing Multiculturalism, Puppets as a Therapeutic Medium and The Fearless Face of Puppetry. Puppet Power:Story is scheduled for June 2-3 2018. She is a member of UNIMA – Canada/USA and served on the Puppeteers of America board for five years as well as supporting local and regional arts organizations. She is a visual artist and literary writer, enjoying travel and people.
