There is no greater feeling in the world than knowing you have the complete and undivided attention of your audience. Wether that audience is 25,000 screaming fans at the Calgary Stampede or 25 grade 9 math students. I firmly believe that student engagement is one of the most important aspects of teaching school in 2020 and beyond. There are so many incredible teachers that have mastered their content but may struggle to have their students engaged and in a position to learn on a daily basis. During this sessions I want to provide educators with real life examples of what I have used in the classroom, as well as on some of the biggest stages in the country to captivate audiences of all ages
A few of the key points to be discussed:
-Self assessment within the moment
-Use of humour
-Importance of/ and how to quickly build healthy teacher student relationships-Importance of authenticity and knowing your material
-Proper and productive self evaluation
-Understanding an audience, what they need and when they need it
