The Importance of a Strong Foundation: Revisiting your mission, vision, values and commitments to ensure a climate for a collaborative response. Building a strong cohesive staff is essential in moving any school or system initiatives or goals forward. Leadership is tricky and relies on people truly engaging in authentic collaboration but this doesn’t just happen. There needs to be a foundation set and an intentional focus on the team and cultivating a strong united team to ensure that everyone is on the same page. Divisive teams are hard to lead and cause much frustration for the leader. This session will share the importance of returning to the foundational statements and focus on what unites staff. It will also surface the important role of leadership in creating strong teams that are trusting, collaborative and focused. School Leaders have so many expectations and mandates that they must attend to and comply with. Too many times leaders are viewed as pushing things forward and staff and teams do not truly understand the importance or even agree. This creates environments that are very difficult to lead. Leaders need to attend to and address the environment and bring everyone back to why they are there in the first place and really focus on shared understanding and support their staff to not just gain that understanding but tend to the people on their teams in a very intentional manner. There are several connections that will be drawn and reference Collaborative Response and School Leaders Standards.
